Four day holiday weekend coming up and is likely to bring rain to the Chonburi area

Pattaya Rainstorm of January 10th, 2018.

Bangkok-

This weekend is a four day holiday weekend with days added to make up for the postponed Songkran holiday and, fittingly for Songkran, rain is in the forecast according to the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD).

The Pattaya News notes that the days are just public holidays and no Songkran related activities are planned so Mother Nature may decide to throw her own.

The TMD says Chonburi, which includes Pattaya, has roughly a 70% chance of rain this weekend.

This is driven by a monsoon trough which lies across the lower North, the Central and the lower Northeast of Thailand. In addition, a southwest monsoon prevails over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf of Thailand.

The TMD warns of sporadic heavy rains and possible flooding in some hard hit areas. The TMD and The Pattaya News advise readers to be aware if they plan on hitting the beaches or traveling over what is expected to be a busy holiday weekend.
