55-year-old female driver shot allegedly by pursuing motorbike riders in Chonburi

Phan Thong district, Chonburi —

A 55-year-old female driver was shot two times while driving, allegedly by two pursuing motorbike riders. Police have initially assumed a domestic dispute was the cause.

Phan Thong police were notified of a shooting incident on Suk Prayun Rd inbound to the Phanat Nikhom district in the Map Pong sub-district, Phan Thong district, Chonburi, yesterday afternoon, June 1st, 2022.

Police found a Honda Civic with one gunshot hole in the windshield and two in the driver’s side window.

The female victim, Apasara Kasemsuan, 55, suffered two serious gunshot wounds to her right shoulder and cheek. The suspected weapon was a 9mm pistol, according to police. The victim was quickly taken to the nearest hospital for emergency treatment.

Tada Thong-in, a 23-year-old eyewitness, told local media that he saw two people wearing full helmets on a motorbike pursuing the woman and shooting at her 4-5 times. The woman’s sedan then crashed into the roadside, and the suspects sped away towards the Phanat Nikhom district.

Pol. Col. Anek Butin, Phan Thong police chief, assumed that the motive may stem from a domestic dispute but would need the victim’s testimony. Initially, police would review CCTV footage alongside the road to identify the suspect’s plate number.
