Phalang Pracharath MP Pareena removed from position and banned for running in elections for life in Thailand

Bangkok –

Phalang Pracharath MP Parina (Or Pareena) Kraikupt had her position revoked and was banned from political elections for life today, April 7th, following the Supreme Court’s verdict against her reserved forest encroachment case in the Chom Bung District of Ratchaburi.

The case was filed by the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) last month, stating that the Ratchaburi MP had illegally encroached on a reserved forest area of 665 rai out of her 711-rai poultry farm in the Chom Bueng District. which brought a conflict between personal and national interests and violated the NACC law.

The NACC had requested the Supreme Court to suspend Parina from her political position and revoke her rights to run in an election and to vote for a period of not more than 10 years.

The reading, which began at around 10:30 AM., had ruled that the Ratchaburi MP had severely violated ethical standards and misconducted her role as a lawmaker. The Court had ordered her to vacate office from March 25th, which was the date when the Court ordered her duty suspension. As the NACC requests, Parina would no longer be allowed to run in an election for life and to vote for a period of not more than 10 years.
