Pattaya –
Smart gates are now being used as a test at the Bali Hai Pier to support Covid – 19 measurements utilizing a 5G supported system.
Yesterday (April 30th), Pattaya City officials together with the National Telecom Public Company Limited have tested the smart gates which are used for temperature checks and facial recognition to ensure people are wearing masks.
Anyone who is going to Koh Larn has to pass through the smart gate. If they have a high temperature or don’t wear face masks, these smart gates will not open and they will be denied entry to transportation to the island. High temperatures will also result in medical staff being contacted to speak with the person in question and invite them to a local hospital for a Covid-19 test.
The smart gate is working via a 5G system which is one of the ‘NEO Pattaya’ project’s and the project is undertaken via an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) between Pattaya City and the National Telecom Public Company Limited.
Koh Larn remains open to visitors, although all the restrictions in Chonburi apply to the island, including that one cannot sit or lie on the beaches but only use them for exercise. Entertainment venues are closed and restaurants are not allowed to provide dine-in services.
