Pattaya-
A Japanese man reported to the Pattaya City Police after he was allegedly attacked by bar security guards at a nightlife venue in central Pattaya just slightly after midnight this morning. (April 6th).
Mr. Takeshi Shigami, 41, a Japanese national, reported the alleged incident to the Pattaya City Police station on Soi 9 around 1:00 A.M.
Takeshi told Pattaya police, “Two nightclub guards attacked me at a bar in Soi Buakhao without reason. I did absolutely nothing to deserve being attacked and did not provoke them in any way.”
After Takeshi filed a police report, he was taken to a local hospital for medical assistance and a precautionary check-up.
The Pattaya City Police immediately responded to the incident and later identified a prime suspect, contacting the suspect’s father and asking for the suspect to turn himself into police for an interview.
At 4:00 A.M. this morning the prime suspect, Mr. Nipon Prakong, presented himself to police on Soi 9. Nipon, however, had a slightly different story than the victim.
Nipon reportedly admitted to police, “I attacked the Japanese man but only I was responsible, other guards were not involved. The Japanese man was heavily intoxicated and had entered the bar after we were already clearly shut and had our lights on and demanded a beer.”
“At that time, the bar had already closed following current orders to be shut by midnight due to the Covid-19 situation. We told him we were not serving and were shut for the night. Takeshi was disappointed, intoxicated, and upset and shouted loudly demanding to be served.” Nipon claimed
“I tried to stop him and asked him to leave the bar but Takeshi refused, demanding to be served a beer before he would leave. He slightly pushed me, which angered me and caused me to hit him in the face.” Nipon concluded.
Mr. Nipon is facing charges of committing bodily harm causing injuries. Pattaya Police did not specifically name the bar venue to the press, citing an ongoing investigation, but stated they would be reviewing CCTV in the establishment to determine the sequence of events and follow-up on the statements made by both Takeshi and Nipon. They will also be looking into Takeshi’s statement that two men were involved, and not just Nipon.
