Chonburi –
Police are hunting for a trailer truck driver after they allegedly hit and killed an elderly motorbike driver in Ban Bueng last night, fleeing afterwards.
The Klong Giw Police in Ban Bueng was notified of the accident last night (March 17th) near a local Buddhist temple.
Police and emergency responders arrived at the scene to find the body of Mr. Wongpichai Gonthong, 61. He had suffered severe injuries after being ran over by a much larger vehicle. His damaged motorbike lay nearby.
No witnesses were found at the scene. However, it is believed by the Seen Samakom rescue team that Mr. Gonthong was crushed by an 18-wheel truck due to tire marks found on the road surface and evidence on Mr. Gonthong’s body.
Chonburi police are urging the truck driver to come forward and present themselves to police while they are checking CCTV footage and hunting for the driver. They have warned the suspect that if they have to locate them charges will be much more severe.
Chonburi police added that they had several solid leads so far based on CCTV in the nearby area.
