Pattaya-
A long-delayed underground cable construction on Pattaya Walking Street is set to be started next month.
A meeting was held yesterday (January 27th) at the Pattaya City Hall and was led by the Pattaya City Mayor Sonthaya Khunplume, Â Mr. Tanoo Surachaisikkawit from the Provincial Electricity Authority Region 2, Pattaya Walking Street business operators, and construction companies.
Mayor Sonthaya told The Pattaya News ” The construction project for moving cables underground in the Walking Street area will begin on February 1st.â
âIt is expected to be completed by the end of this year, likely in time for the return of foreign tourists to Thailand. The project was previously delayed at the request of Walking Street business owners last year when many people still thought we would be able to welcome back tourists soon. However, it is now evident that won’t be happening in the immediate future so the priority is to complete the project now, moving communication and electrical cables underground, to improve the look and feel of Walking Street.” Sonthaya concluded.
The estimated period of work for the project is about six months and will see significant construction-related delays in the area, similar to South Pattaya Road.
We have published a video explaining more about the project here.
