The Nongprue Police last night (January 21st) raided a beer bar in the Nongprue area for allegedly offending an order regarding closing in which twelve people were arrested.
The Nongprue Police were notified earlier in the evening by what they called a concerned citizen afraid about the potential spread of Covid-19 that a beer bar located on Phon Prapa Nimit Road had opened for service allegedly offending an order regarding closing.
At 10:30 P.M. the Nongprue Police raided the beer bar. Twelve people in total were arrested at the venue according to the police. They are facing charges with offending an order regarding closing due to the Covid â 19 pandemic and violating the emergency decree.
Due to the emergency decree being invoked the penalty for the alleged violation, if convicted in a court of law, could be significant jail time and fines. It was not clear if the twelve people arrested were all staff or also included customers but appeared based on statements made by Nongprue Police to be both.
The announcement was also made on the Chonburi Public Relations account, warning people that bars and drinking in groups/gathering was still illegal and could spread the virus.
