A body of a missing fisherman was found in a Sattahip forest last night by a group of local residents sent to inspect the area by a village headman.
The Sattahip Police was notified of the skeleton at 6:30 P.M. yesterday (January 11th) in a remote forest in Bang Saray.
Police and rescue workers arrived at the scene to find the body of the fisherman which was identified by police as Mr. Sakon Pattamee, 53. The body had suffered severe decay and was nearly skeletal, according to Sattahip Police.
Police said there were no initial signs of a struggle or altercation on the body of Mr. Sakon although further investigation is needed.
Mr. Prasert Pinetchot, a district headman assistant, told police that he was notified by a local who was out hiking in the forest that there was a foul odor in the area before they discovered the body. The body was in a very remote section of forest, according to Prasert.
Prasert said other local residents last saw Mr. Sakon two weeks ago when he went missing without any explanation. Sattahip police said Mr. Sakon’s body will be taken for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
