Chonburi-
A young woman driving a motorbike was killed after being run over by a truck in a hit and run accident in Mueang Chonburi this past weekend.
Captain Wuttinan Panpakdee of the Highway Police, Khao Kaew Station in the Nong Kangkok sub-district was notified of the accident on Saturday afternoon.
Police and emergency responders arrived at the scene to find the body of Ms. Nueangruethai Talek, 28, from Pichit.
Her damaged motorbike was found at the scene. A significant distance away rescue workers found a damaged truck. The driver and a passenger spoke briefly with rescue staff without identifying themselves but then fled the scene on foot before police arrived after learning they had likely killed a young woman.
The male driver and his passenger, who refused to give a name, reportedly told rescue workers that they did not know what happened. They refused to wait for police and fled on foot abandoning their vehicle.
A security guard, whose name was only given by his nickname Ae, told police that he saw the motorbike was being driven in a light rain. He believes that the victim might have lost control, falling in front of the truck and as a result being run over.
Mueang Chonburi police are continuing their investigation to find the truck driver and passenger who fled the scene of an accident resulting in death and may both face significant legal charges.
