Thailand reaches 40 days with no confirmed, recorded locally spread cases of Covid-19

Bangkok-

The Ministry of Public Health, in association with the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration, or CCSA, confirmed this morning that Thailand has not recorded a single confirmed locally spread case of Covid-19 in forty days.

Thailand has recorded five imported cases today from Thai nationals who have been repatriated from overseas, one from Kuwait, one from the UK and three from Sudan.

The Pattaya News no longer gives daily updates on the situation with Covid-19 in Thailand and imported cases, however, the accomplishment of reaching forty days with no confirmed locally spread cases as an entire Kingdom is one that was deemed newsworthy.

The CCSA has stated, through their spokesperson Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin, that Thailand remains on guard and social distancing measures will continue despite the accomplishments as factors such as potential illegal immigrants entering the country remain a potential danger. Border control is a top priority for Thailand and although very limited international travel is resuming very strict precautions remain and only very limited groups of foreigners can enter. These groups include those with work permits and medical reasons, but require extensive paperwork, quarantines and approval on a case by case basis.

General travel and tourism related purposes remain closed for the foreseeable future due to the threat of Covid-19 around the world, according to Dr. Taweesin. Thailand is exploring potential travel bubbles for the future with some countries that are deemed as having successfully controlled the virus and taking proper precautions.

Thailand has had a total of 3,185 cases with 3, 066 of those recovered. There have been a total of 58 deaths in the Kingdom.
