A Thai man allegedly brooding over problems with his girlfriend decided to get wasted on rice whiskey and waded into the Pattaya sea to spend the night on a buoy line.
The sullen boyfriend, Mr. Anon Srirue, 29, was found about 50 meters off Jomtien Beach on a swimming buoy at 5 AM this morning, May 11th.
He was sleeping on a buoy and was rescued safely back to the shore by Sawang Boriboon rescuers. The man seemed heavily intoxicated, rescuers told The Pattaya News.
According to his mother, Mrs. Bang-on Thiamrit, 49, her son became sulky at his girlfriend for unknown reasons. He was so upset that he drove his pickup truck away from the house in the middle of the night and disappeared for a long time.
Worrying about his safety, Mr. Anon’s mother and his girlfriend, whose name was withheld, decided to wander out in search of him at Jomtien Beach where he often liked to relax and think. They then found Mr. Anon drinking rice whiskey on the beach, which led to another argument between the couple.
The son blurted out that he wanted to die and waded into the Pattaya sea before disappearing into the dark. His mother grew worried and contacted the authorities for help. However, the man swam to a buoy and went to sleep instead of harming himself.
Thanks to rescuers, the man did not sustain any harm. He is reportedly sobering up as of press time and was not actually suicidal.
