Thai Justice Minister Inspects Yala Car Bomb Site: One Dead, 34 People Injured

On June 30th, 2024, Thai Minister of Justice Pol. Col. Thawee Sodsong inspected a car bomb explosion site in front of the police residential building in Bannang Sata, Yala. The blast caused significant damage to several cars and motorcycles, resulting in one casualty and 34 injuries.

The latest updates reveal that the explosion claimed the life of Mrs. Rokiyah Sarana, a 45-year-old teacher at Tadika School, who was on the way to buy groceries for her students. 34 people were injured, and various properties, including vehicles and electric poles, were damaged.


The Bannang Sata police officers revealed that the car used in the bombing was a stolen pickup truck and was rigged with a 16-kilogram gas cylinder filled with explosives and scrap metal, weighing over 80 kg, along with two gasoline cans, detonated by a timer. The car had been reported stolen just one day before the incident.

The perpetrator allegedly parked the vehicle for about 10 minutes before an unidentified person picked the perpetrator up, followed by the explosion. CCTV footage is currently under review, and the investigation is progressing rapidly, according to the police.

Yala security forces, including the military, police, and local authorities, are actively monitoring the situation and providing assistance to those affected.
