On June 20th, 2024, Bangkok Yai police, tourist police officers, and relevant agencies conducted a coordinated inspection aimed at deterring and suppressing crimes that exploit tourist sightseeing areas.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance the safety and experience of visitors in Bangkok. According to the police, multiple relevant agencies, including tourist police, interpreters, volunteers, and Bangkok Yai police, received directives from their supervisors to crack down on crimes and illegal activities.
These activities include targeting low-quality tour agents, con artists, exploitative taxis, and other groups that could negatively impact the tourism industry.
During the operation, officers inspected several key locations, including Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn) and other popular sites in Bangkok. This initiative aligns with the Thai government’s policies focused on ensuring the safety of tourists’ lives and property, reinforcing Thailand’s commitment to providing a secure and welcoming environment for visitors.
The inspection order, issued nationwide, is in effect from June 19th to 25th. This synchronized effort demonstrates the government’s dedication to maintaining a positive image of Thailand’s tourism sector and protecting its valuable tourist attractions from criminal exploitation.
