Samut Sakhon —

On June 15th, 2024, Thai Crime Suppression officers conducted a raid to apprehend a group of men extorting money from kratom juice vendors and fuel smugglers in Samut Sakhon.

According to the police, on May 29th, a group of men wearing “CIB” vests and riding motorbikes approached a kratom juice store in Mueang Samut Sakhon, claiming to be police officers conducting an inspection.

The suspects allegedly extorted 28,000 baht from the vendor in exchange for not taking legal action, subsequently demanding a monthly payment of 3,000 baht.
The group also targeted smuggled fuel operators in the Samut Sakhon area, using the same tactic of impersonating police officers to extort money.

The police investigation revealed that over 11 individuals were involved in these crimes, including two active police officers and nine civilians. Authorities discovered fake police badges, CIB vests, and other incriminating evidence. The suspects were taken into custody and are now facing further legal proceedings.
