Scottish Ex-Footballer Ian Heddle Confesses to Child Sexual Abuse Committed During Trip to Pattaya

Ian Heddle, a 61-year-old former footballer from Dunfermline, has admitted to the serious sexual assault of a child and possession of thousands of indecent images of children, some of which were from during his trip to Pattaya, Thailand, in 2019.

Heddle, who played as a midfielder for several Scottish clubs, pled guilty at the High Court in Glasgow on Tuesday, June 11th, and is set to be sentenced next month.

Heddle was originally charged after more than 270,000 indecent photos and videos of children were found in his possession. A further police investigation subsequently led to additional charges of sexually assaulting a child against Heddle, after he was believed to have abused a child, said to be only eight years old, during a trip to Pattaya in 2019.

It was also revealed that Heddle had been linked to the viewing and uploading of numerous child sexual abuse material on the internet. This activity reportedly took place at his property in Scotland.

According to Prosecutor Tracey Brown, Heddle stored the images and videos in his hard drive and categorized them into folders. The man possessed as many as 272,936 photos and 4,001 clips.

After his initial appearance in court, Heddle was bailed and ordered to remain in Scotland but has currently been remanded into custody.
