A 57-year-old German tourist has died after falling from the 33rd floor of a five-star hotel in Pattaya. The tourist landed on the ground floor of a shopping mall below, shocking people.
The incident occurred on June 5th, 2024, at around 10:06 PM. Pattaya police and rescue workers rushed to the incident scene at the mall in question and found the victim’s body, later publicly identified by police as Mr. Martin Bernhard Roder, a 57-year-old German national, on the mall’s floor. The victim had sustained fatal injuries and passed away at the site.
According to Pattaya police, Mr. Roder was staying in a room on the 33rd floor of the five-star hotel near the mall. No signs of struggle or forced entry were found in his room, but police discovered medication for allergies in the room. They kept it as evidence. The name of the hotel was withheld by Pattaya Police for legal reasons and due to an ongoing investigation.
Eyewitnesses told The Pattaya News that they saw Mr. Roder’s body fall from the building and land on a planter in front of the mall’s entrance. The incident caused panic among other guests and mall staff. The staff members quickly cordoned off the area and alerted authorities.
Pattaya police are currently investigating the cause of the fall and have not ruled out suicide. This is the fourth such incident in Pattaya this month, following the deaths of a Thai man on June 1st, a Russian tourist on June 3rd, and an American tourist on June 4th.
