Suvarnabhumi Airport Officers Suspended Following Public Dispute, AOT Issues Apology

On June 4th, 2024, Airports of Thailand (AOT) PLC issued an official statement addressing a viral video depicting two security officers at Suvarnabhumi Airport allegedly engaged in a heated quarrel in front of the passenger terminal.

According to the AOT, the incident, which occurred at 2 PM on June 4th, involved a personal dispute between two security officers while they were on duty and in uniform. AOT officials condemned the behavior, noting that such actions are unacceptable.

AOT emphasized that the altercation violated the organisation’s rules and practices. Consequently, both officers were immediately suspended, and an independent committee was formed to investigate the incident further and determine appropriate disciplinary measures according to AOT regulations.

In their statement, AOT also issued a public apology for the officers’ actions, underscoring the importance of employee discipline. The officials mentioned that the maximum penalty for such misconduct could be dismissal from AOT employment.

The cause of the dispute was not revealed by the AOT and the names of the men involved were not released to the media.
