Pattaya Sedan Driver Reportedly Disregards Red Light, Causing Serious Collision and Multiple Injuries

Pattaya —

A 52-year-old Thai sedan driver allegedly disobeyed a red light and crashed into a big bike in South Pattaya in the early hours of Wednesday, May 8th. The motorcyclist suffered serious injuries.

Around 2:46 AM, the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation received reports of a traffic accident on Sukhumvit Road in South Pattaya. The accident involved a bronze-gray Mitsubishi Pajero and a gray Honda CBR 1000cc motorcycle that had collided with one another.

Upon arrival at the scene, emergency responders found a severely damaged Mitsubishi Pajero, with a detached wheel on the passenger side. Inside, authorities found three injured passengers: two boys aged 10 and 14 with head injuries, and an 8-year-old girl with scrapes and lacerations on her body and a glass wound on her left wrist. The driver of the Pajero, identified by police as Mr. Sathit Sinuansakulnee, 52, was uninjured.

Near the wrecked sedan, responders found a mangled gray Honda CBR 1000cc motorcycle. Its driver, Mr. Wiran Suksaow, 23, was found lying unconscious in the middle of the road, with grievous wounds that bled profusely. He was rushed to the nearest hospital.

Eyewitness Mr. Mongkol Khamprasong, 29, told The Pattaya News that the Pajero was stopped at a red light next to him. However, the driver reportedly disobeyed the red light and turned onto Sukhumvit Road while the motorcycle was traveling straight with the green light. Mr. Mongkol stated that he heard the motorcyclist attempting to brake, but the victim unfortunately could not avoid the collision.

Mr. Sathit, the driver of the Pajero, did not make a statement to the press at the accident scene.

Pattaya police are reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area to prove the eyewitness’s account and to file possible charges.
