Lampang—
At 11:20 PM, on May 7th, 2024, Thoen police officers received a fatal accident report of a coach carrying 33 Chinese tourists crashing into roadside trees on Phahonyothin Road, Thoen, Lampang.
The Thoen police and emergency services were dispatched to the accident scene and found a coach in severe condition having crashed into roadside trees. According to the Thoen police, the coach driver, publicly identified only as Mr. Chaturapat, 31, was found dead.
Furthermore, two Chinese passengers suffered serious injuries and 31 others suffered minor injuries.
The Thoen emergency services team performed first aid before transferring the wounded to Thoen and Sop Prap Hospitals for immediate medical treatment. The uninjured passengers were escorted to the Thoen police station and waited for another coach to pick them up and continue to Bangkok.
Upon initial investigation, the coach had picked the Chinese tourists up from Fang, Chiang Mai to travel to Bangkok. It was assumed by the police that the driver might have been fatigued and dozed off, causing the coach to lose control and collide with roadside trees. Moreover, the road at the accident scene might have been slippery as it had previously rained.
However, the police would investigate further to determine the exact cause of the accident.
