Thailand Breaks Records During Heatwave for Power Consumption in Bangkok Area

On April 30th, 2024, the Thai Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) publicly revealed yearly statistics of the maximum demand of power, a peak power value consumed during a specific time interval, in Bangkok, Nonthaburi, and Samut Prakan.

According to the MEA, on April 29th, 2024, between 2:30 to 3:00 PM, the Max. Demand was at 9,802.65 megawatts (MW) considered to be the peak power value of the MEA as of press time.

The MEA revealed the statistics of the peak power value that have occurred in the past years 2017-2024 were as follows:

– Year 2017, May 4th, 1:30-2:00 PM, at 9,114.74 MW.
– Year 2018, April 24th, 2:00-2:30 PM, at 8,889.82 MW.
– Year 2019, April 25th, 1:30-2:00 PM, at 9,525.93 MW.
– Year 2020, May 22nd, 2:00-2:30 PM, at 8,517.69 MW.
– Year 2021, June 4th, 2:30-3:00 PM, at 9,077.74 MW.
– Year 2022, April 28th, 2:00-2:30 PM, at 9,442.22 MW.
– Year 2023, May 8th, 2:00-2:30 PM, at 9,733.50 MW.
– Year 2024, April 29th, 2:30-3:00 PM, at 9,802.65 MW.
