Pattaya —
Residents and business owners in Pattaya are complaining about a persistent wastewater leak that has been causing foul odors and creating an unsightly mess along a road leading to Jomtien Beach.
According to concerned citizens, the leak has been plaguing the area near the Machanu traffic intersection on Second Road for a long time. The leak consists of dark and smelly wastewater that has been overflowing onto the sidewalks and flooding the surrounding area. This also caused the sidewalks to become slippery and unpleasant to walk on for pedestrians.
The affected motorbike taxi driver, who preferred to remain anonymous, gave an interview to a local press, saying the wastewater has been leaking for at least two weeks. The situation worsens in the evenings, when the amount of wastewater increases and the accompanying odor intensifies.
Moreover, the affected area is a major road-crossing point for tourists, raising concerns that motorists might drive through the water and splash the tourists, the driver said.
The driver claimed that residents in the area already made complaints to the Pattaya City Administration, but no action has been taken to address the problem so far. They are urging the responsible authorities to act promptly to rectify the situation and prevent further inconvenience and damage to Pattaya’s reputation.
