A Thai-American teenager jumped to his death from the 8th floor of a condominium complex in Pattaya early Friday morning, April 26th.
At 3:36 AM, Pol. Lt. Natthathan Chantawong, Deputy Inspector of Investigation at the Banglamung Police Station, received a report of a person jumping from a condo. The name of the condo has been withheld by police pending further investigation.
Upon receiving the report, Pol. Lt. Natthathan coordinated with Pattaya Tourist Police and rescue workers before rushing to the scene. Upon arriving at the 21-story condo, authorities found the deceased, a 19-year-old American citizen whose name has been withheld pending permission from his family.
The teen was believed to have jumped from the 8th floor and landed on the condominium’s parking lot, causing his death. The body was found lying sideways in a pool of blood. The police cordoned off the area and prohibited unauthorized personnel from entering the vicinity.
Ms. Chulalak Saiprasat, 31, and her boyfriend, who were the first to discover the body, told The Pattaya News that they had just left the condominium and were walking towards the parking lot to retrieve their motorcycle when they came across the deceased’s body lying in a pool of blood. They immediately alerted the authorities.
Mr. B, a condo resident who spoke to the press, who preferred to remain anonymous, stated that the deceased and his mother often had arguments.
The deceased’s younger brother, visibly distraught by the incident, recounted that his brother had an argument shortly before his fatal fall. The deceased’s mother, who was also present, was overcome with grief and stated that her son was about leave for studies abroad in just a few days. The names of the family members were withheld.
The deceased’s body was transferred to a hospital. Police are examining the incident scene and interviewing witnesses to investigate the circumstances surrounding the victim’s death.
