Pattaya —

The arrival of the United States Navy’s Carrier Strike Group 9, led by the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) and Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 11, is expected to bring significant economic benefits to Pattaya.

The carrier strike group, carrying over 6,000 sailors, is docked at Laem Chabang port in Chonburi for a leisure visit from April 24th to 28th.

This is the first time since 2018 the USS Theodore Roosevelt has visited Thailand. The group is on a mission to train and conduct operations with partners throughout the Indo-Pacific region.

According to reports, the crew will have the opportunity to explore Thai soft power. The crew already visited Pattaya’s Walking Street accompanied by tourist police who showed them around the area’s famous attractions. The crew will also participate in community service events.

Many Thai-American sailors on board the Theodore Roosevelt will also have the opportunity to reunite with their family.

The visit is expected to generate hundreds of millions of baht in revenue for Pattaya. Businesses in Pattaya already got a chance to greet the sailors, and the atmosphere in Pattaya is buzzing with excitement.
