Sattahip Authorities Seize Large Quantity of Kratom Water

Sattahip —

Sattahip authorities seized a large amount of Kratom water during an operation that took place on Wednesday, April 24th, 2024.

The operation followed complaints submitted by concerned citizens that there was a shop, located in the Phlu Ta Luang sub-district of Sattahip, that was selling Kratom water mixed with cough syrup to minors.

Upon inspection, authorities found and seized four large tanks containing a total of 400 liters of Kratom water in various stages of preparation, alongside numerous cooking pots and a large quantity of Kratom leaves and cough syrups placed around the floor. Additionally, they also seized bottled Kratom juice already prepared for sale, including 47 one-liter bottles, 46 half-liter bottles, and 11 bags containing smaller quantities.

The owner of the shop, whose name was not released to the media, was arrested and charged for selling Kratom juice mixed with other ingredients, which carries a penalty of 6 months to 2 years imprisonment and a fine of 5,000 to 20,000 baht.

Kratom was decriminalized in 2022 in Thailand but selling it, especially in a mixed form, requires strict licensing from the Thai FDA which is difficult to obtain.
