Fire Breaks Out in Doi Suthep, Chiang Mai; Local Authorities Work to Contain Blaze

At 9:10 PM, on April 17th, 2024, Chiang Mai local media reported a fire incident in Doi Suthep, Chiang Mai. Locals could witness the violent fires in the old town.

According to Chiang Mai local media, the fire was spotted at a temple in the Doi Suthep forest by Phuping forest fire officers from the Doi Suthep-Pui National Park. The officers were urgently dispatched to the fire location to control the situation.

At 10:50 PM, more forest fire officers traveled on foot to the fire location as no vehicle could access the fire area. However, Mr. Nirat Pongsitthaworn, the Chiang Mai Governor, received the fire report and immediately ordered forest fire officers in the vicinity to control the situation over night.

The recent report from Chiang Mai local media stated that at 12:20 AM, on April 18th, the forest fire officers could successfully control the fires with great effort.

There was no clear cause of the fire incident reported as of press time, noted TPN.
