Ms. Anntonia Porsild, the first runner-up of Miss Universe 2023 was nominated for Miss Songkran 2024 and car parades from 16 provinces across Thailand would be included in the Maha Songkran World Water Festival 2024 with traditional-style decorations.

Meanwhile, Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin presided at the opening of the Maha Songkran event at Fountain Square, King Power Rangnam, Bangkok.

The King Power Rangnam area would hold the event from April 11th to 16th under the theme of contemporary Songkran tradition with local Thai culture from four regions.

Srettha publicly stated that it was good news that UNESCO registered the Songkran festival from Thailand as humanity’s intangible cultural heritage. It was indeed a soft power that could potentially enhance the local communities.

He wished everyone to have a happy Songkran, travel safely, and not drink and drive, said Srettha.
