Pattaya —

Pattaya Deputy Mayor Mr. Manoch Nongyai has provided an update on the beachfront landscape transformation project at Pattaya Beach, emphasizing that the project will be completed before the promised deadline.

With a budget of 166 million baht, the project aims to enhance the landscape along Pattaya’s iconic 2.7-kilometer beachfront, stretching from the north end to the southern reaches of the city. The project aligns with Pattaya’s policy to improve the city’s overall image and provide better amenities for both residents and tourists.

Mr. Manoch explained that the project will involve the removal of palm trees to make way for a one-lane road expansion along the North Pattaya and Central Pattaya section. The project is being carried out by Nong Nooch Landscape and Garden Design Co., Ltd, and according to the deputy mayor, it is expected to be completed before the contractual deadline. Currently, sidewalk construction is progressing at 80%, and the overall project is on track to be finished before the timeframe.

According to the city announcement, the project was originally scheduled for completion in 2025. However, due to the swift progress, the completion is now anticipated by around mid-2024.

In addition to the beachfront project, Mr. Manoch revealed that Pattaya is also undertaking another project to improve the sidewalks in front of Walking Street. This initiative aims to expand the existing walkways, which due to its current size, often cause congestion and force tourists to walk on the street, especially during busy events.

Mr. Manoch disclosed that the city had negotiated with business owners who agreed with the city to expand the sidewalks to 1.5 meters in width. The deputy mayor noted that this will significantly improve pedestrian safety at Walking Street.
