Sri Racha, Chonburi —

A sedan crashed into a light pole in Sri Racha, Chonburi, before busting into flames. The driver disappeared from the incident scene, but the authorities found a Chinese ID inside the vehicle.

The accident took place on April 11th at the Nong Kwae – Amtha Intersection in the Bo Win sub-district, Sri Racha district, Chonburi province. It prompted a response from Sri Racha police and local emergency responders.

Upon arrival, authorities found a white Mazda 2 sedan had crashed into a streetlight, causing the pole to break. The car was engulfed in flames.

Rescue workers and Good Samaritans used fire extinguishers to combat the fire, while a group of teenagers returning from Songkran activities also joined the effort with buckets of water. They extinguished the blaze completely within 30 minutes.

According to the firefighters, no driver was found at the scene. However, a burnt Chinese ID card was discovered inside the vehicle. Sri Racha police suspected that the driver may have fallen asleep before hitting the streetlight because there were no skid marks on the road.

The driver is believed to have fled the scene out of fear of prosecution. Police are investigating the incident to determine the exact cause and identify the driver for legal action.
