Pattaya Police Ready for Songkran, Holds Another Parade

Pattaya —

Pattaya police held another major show of force on Friday, April 6th, in an effort to ensure safety for the public and tourists ahead of the upcoming Songkran festival.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Suphaset Chokchai, Deputy Commissioner of the Tourist Police Bureau, led a parade of police officers and volunteers around the Pattaya area yesterday evening to demonstrate the police force’s readiness for the water festival.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Suphaset said that the police will be working closely with other agencies, including the Immigration Bureau, to ensure the safety of tourists during the festival. He added that police will be setting up checkpoints at key locations to prevent any forms of crime to protect people’s lives and belongings as well as make sure that business operators don’t exploit tourists.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Suphaset also mentioned that the parade was an important part of letting the public and tourists know about the commitment of all parties, especially the Tourist Police Bureau, the Royal Thai Police, and related agencies, to providing security for tourists.

The officers then walked down Walking Street in South Pattaya to greet people. They also urged tourists to play water safely and to avoid drinking and driving.
