Pattaya —

A van crashed with an 18-wheeler on the Pattaya motorway early Saturday morning, injuring six people, including four Chinese tourists.

The crash occurred at around 1:30 AM on April 6th, 2024, on kilometer 85+400 of the motorway in the Bang Phra sub-district of Sri Racha district, Chonburi province, heading toward Pattaya.

According to reports, the van, a Toyota Commuter, was traveling from Bangkok to Pattaya when it was hit by an 18-wheel Hino truck. The impact caused the van to veer off the road and crash into a guardrail.

Six people were injured in the crash, including two Chinese men, two Chinese women, and two Thai men. Four of the victims suffered minor injuries, while the other two people were trapped in the car but were not seriously injured.

The six victims were sent to nearby local hospitals.

The driver of the van, Mr. Kampliw (last name withheld), 48, told police that he was driving normally when the truck suddenly veered into his lane and hit him. The unidentified truck driver, meanwhile, did not give any statements to the police.

Police are investigating the crash and are interrogating the truck driver further as of press time.
