Our video report of the story is here.

On their arrival, police found the victim, a 27-year-old Filipino woman who could not be identified due to concerns about her privacy, suffering a wound on her right hand and bruises around her body. Her face was covered in blood. She was with a Good Samaritan, Mr. Uthit Krooking, 47.

According to Mr. Uthit, the victim told him she was walking along Sukhumvit Road in the early morning when a man riding a black motorcycle approached her. The man, described as being approximately 165 centimeters tall with dark skin and wearing a black shirt and shorts, offered to take the victim back to her accommodation. However, he instead took her to a secluded area near the reservoir and attempted to rob and rape her. It was unclear if the man was Thai.

There, the assailant stole the victim’s iPhone X. Fortunately, the victim had a knife with her and was able to stab the attacker, which scared him off and defended her from the rape. The man fled the scene with the iPhone. The victim then screamed for help, leading to Mr. Uthit’s assistance.

Huay Yai police are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area in an attempt to identify and locate the suspect as well as attempting to trace the victim’s phone. The investigation is ongoing.
