At 11:30 AM, on March 22nd, 2024, Banglamung Administrative Officers and relevant agencies inspected an illegal shop selling kratom juice mixed with energy drinks in Banglamung, Chonburi.
According to Administrative Officers, locals reported to the Damrongtham Center that a shop on Soi Khao Talo Road illegally sold kratom juice to students and minors.
Upon the investigation, the shop had a storage room containing seven large coolers filled with kratom juice. The next room was modified to cook and mix kratom juice with various ingredients including energy drinks, cough syrup, and others.
One of the employees at the shop told the Administrative Officers that the shop generated income of almost 20,000 baht daily with various tastes for teenagers.
Meanwhile, during the inspection, a 17-year-old man walked into the shop to buy kratom juice. The officers had to tell him to leave as he insisted on buying kratom juice, according to Administrative Officers.
Initially, Administrative Officers confiscated 1,801 bottles of kratom juice as evidence and sent them to Pattaya City inquiry police for further legal processing.
The names of those involved in the shop were not released to the Thai media.
Kratom is legal in Thailand, however, is not allowed to be mixed with other ingredients or sold without a license from the Thai FDA. The decriminalization was mainly meant for self use in the plants natural form.
