Tourist Police and Chinese Consulate Team Up to Enhance Safety for Chinese Tourists in Pattaya

Pattaya —

Tourist Police and the Chinese consulate in Thailand are teaming up to enhance safety measures for Chinese tourists visiting Pattaya.

A meeting led by Tourist Police Division 1 and the Chinese consulate took place on Thursday, March 21st, 2024, bringing together key figures within Pattaya law enforcement and the city administration to discuss tourist safety, particularly during marine activities.

The meeting occurred after the Chinese consulate sent a delegation to Pattaya to assess safety measures in response to the rise in Chinese tourism, following the Thai government’s lifting of visa requirements for Chinese visitors.

The meeting focused on prioritizing safety during water recreation. This includes establishing more lifeguard stations, deploying lifeguards with safety equipment during peak hours from 9 AM to 2 PM, and increasing multilingual safety warning signs at the beach. Hotels have also been instructed to increase lifeguards to prevent drowning in swimming areas.

The Chinese consulate commended Pattaya’s commitment to tourist safety. They revealed they planned to promote these measures in China to encourage more Chinese citizens to visit Pattaya.
