Sattahip, Chonburi —
The Royal Thai Police seized five vessels suspected of carrying over 400,000 liters of smuggled oil in the Gulf of Thailand near Sattahip, Chonburi.
The major operation was conducted on March 19th, 2024, involving various law enforcement departments within the Royal Thai Police. The vessels were located approximately 100 nautical miles off the coast of Sattahip district, Chonburi province.
Upon the operation, five vessels were found allegedly carrying over 400,000 liters of smuggled oil. The unknown number of suspects on the vessels were detained and handed over to the Sattahip Police Station for legal proceedings.
According to Pol. Gen. Kraiboon Thaudsong, head of the Fuel Crime Suppression Center, the Royal Thai Police are actively working to dismantle the illegal oil trading network in the Gulf of Thailand. This also includes identifying and apprehending financiers and other influential figures involved in this illicit operation.
