Honda LPGA Thailand Thrives, Inspiring Future Generations

(Chonburi – February 25th, 2024) – Golf fans of Honda LPGA Thailand have left a remarkable impression on officials from the “LPGA Tour,” who considered the event one of the most vibrant tours, receiving overwhelming responses from golf enthusiasts. The performance of the 11 Thai golfers was outstanding, creating a strong impression on viewers and golf fans alike.

Mr. Matt Chmura, Chief Marketing and Communications and Brand Officer from the LPGA Tour, expressed, “The support from golf fans at this event is considered one of the best on the tour, which is crucial. Every golfer wants to participate in this event. The course is also seen as a good challenge for golfers.” Mr. Matt also commended the Thai golfers, stating that they are among “the best on the tour.”

He is confident that the 17th edition of the Honda LPGA Thailand competition will attract more attention from the general public, emphasizing the importance of inspiring new generations of golfers.

“This event allows young Thai golfers to compete with world-class golfers, and watching these golfers play or win championships will inspire young talents to enter the sport,” he added.

Regarding the development of golf, Mr. Matt stated that there are ongoing improvements in various aspects globally, as golf is a worldwide sport, not limited to any specific region.

Currently, there are several enhancements, particularly in using technology to make golf more accessible to fans. Communication has evolved, with a continuous focus on content production and transmission to provide more channels for golfers and fans to interact, especially with the younger generation who actively use online social media, he added.

When asked about adding more tournaments in Thailand or the region, Mr. Matt mentioned that it is not an easy task due to the already compact tournament schedule. LPGA Tour usually competes in Asia twice a season, both at the beginning and end of the season. “It is challenging to add more tournaments, but I can say that we are very happy with the support from Honda and golf fans in Thailand,” he concluded.
