Pattaya Hotel Fire Extinguished Early Yesterday Morning, One Room Damaged, No Injuries

Pattaya —

A fire broke out in a guest room at the SP Boutique Hotel in Pattaya early yesterday morning, causing significant damage but fortunately no injuries.

At approximately 6:06 AM, February 20th, the Pattaya City Fire Department received a report of a fire at the hotel, located on Soi Sukhumvit 51. Six fire trucks and emergency responders were promptly dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke billowing from the five-story building. The fire was located in a guest room on the third floor. Residents were evacuated swiftly, and firefighters used six water trucks to contain and extinguish the blaze within a short period.

Prior to the fire department’s arrival, residents and hotel caretakers attempted to extinguish the fire themselves using chemical extinguishers. However, due to the rapid spread of the flames, they were forced to evacuate the building and call for assistance.

Mr. Panupong Sensakasom, a guest occupying the room that set on fire, described waking up and noticing flickering lights in the room upon entering the bathroom. He then heard sounds resembling electrical shorts and smelled burning, prompting him to inform the hotel caretaker and call for a technician. Upon returning to his room, he found the fire fully ignited. Despite the staff’s best efforts with fire extinguishers, they were forced to call the fire department.

The estimated losses are valued at over 500,000 baht. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

The incident is still under investigation as of press time.
