Pattaya —
Pattaya police announced the successful apprehension of a couple suspected of committing multiple motorcycle thefts in the Banglamung area.
Pol. Col. Navin Sinthurat, Superintendent of the Banglamung Police Station, confirmed the arrest of two suspects identified only as Mr. Mana, 28, and Ms. Aree, 27, on February 17th, 2024, in the Takhian Tia residential area.
Authorities accused the pair of committing a string of recent motorcycle thefts in the Pattaya and Banglamung areas. They explained to the press that the couple rode a modified Honda Wave motorbike late at night and targeted motorcycles parked at buildings. The suspects reportedly conducted three separate incidents between January and February, 2024.
Concerned by the rising trend, Banglamung police launched an investigation and eventually identified a distinctive feature of the suspects’ vehicle – a blue Honda Wave motorcycle modified for racing – captured in the Nong Pla Lai community.
Leveraging this clue, police tracked the couple’s movements, ultimately leading to Mr. Mana’s apprehension while riding the identified motorcycle. He subsequently confessed to three motorcycle thefts in Banglamung, admitting to collaborating with his female accomplice.
Authorities recovered and returned six stolen motorcycles to their rightful owners. They urged citizens to use sturdy locks, park in well-lit areas, and promptly report any suspicious activities to the police.
