At 8:00 AM, on February 18th, 2024, Lumpini police officers received a theft report of a rescue volunteer pickup truck stolen by a Japanese national in front of the Lumpini police station, Pathumwan, Bangkok.
The rescue volunteer pickup truck owner Pisut Chukliang, 50, reported to the police that his vehicle was stolen while he was performing his duty, aiding a foreigner who suffered an injury in front of the police station.
According to Pisut’s statement, at 7:00 AM, his rescue team received a report from the Phra Nakhon Radio Center, that the foreigner was having a conflict with another person in front of the Lumpini police station. The rescue team was dispatched to the incident scene to aid the wounded.
However, the pickup truck had its engine and siren turned on, and suddenly, an unidentified person swiftly stole the vehicle and zoomed off. The rescue team then coordinated with the police to track down the suspect, said Pisut.
As a result, the suspect was intercepted and taken into custody shortly after. According to the police report, the suspect, publicly identified only as Ms. Kazumi, a 49-year-old Japanese person, was captured at Wongwian Yai, Prajadhipok Road, Bangkok.
Initially, Lumpini police officers took hold of the suspect and coordinated with the Japanese embassy and immigration officials to inspect her documentation before taking legal action against her. There was no motive reported behind her illegal action, noted TPN.
