Nonthaburi—
On February 14th, 2024, Thai authorities, including officials from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and other relevant agencies, initiated a search operation, targeting a factory suspected of illegally manufacturing over 30,000 bottles of soda beverages containing kratom in Pak Kret, Nonthaburi.
According to police reports, the factory in Pak Kret was allegedly involved in the illicit sale of soda beverages containing kratom under an unrevealed brand in the Bangkok area. The police launched an investigation into the matter and sought a search warrant from the Nonthaburi Provincial Court.
Upon arriving at the factory, police officers and FDA officials encountered two individuals believed to be connected with the illegal production of soda beverages containing kratom.
The suspects, identified as Mr. Suthichai, a 39-year-old company manager, and Mr. Komen, a 46-year-old production supervisor, were present during the search operation.
During the search, the police discovered various rooms within the factory premises, including sections designated for manufacturing, storage, office use, and other purposes. Additionally, materials used in the production of soda beverages containing kratom were seized, along with equipment and stations dedicated to the manufacturing process.
Initially, the two suspects were charged with conspiring to produce counterfeit beverages for sale or distribution, selling beverages containing kratom as an ingredient, and other related violations.
Subsequently, the suspects were escorted to the Pak Kret police station for further interrogation, as the police pledged to conduct a thorough investigation to ensure all individuals involved in the illegal operation were held accountable for their actions.
