Pattaya —
A fire broke out at a large garbage pond in Soi Thung Klom-Tan Man near Pattaya on the evening of February 12th.
The Nongprue Municipal Disaster Mitigation Center received a report of the blaze at approximately 10:00 PM. Municipal officials from Nongprue, Banglamung, and Huay Yai Municipalities jointly rushed to the scene located within Soi Thung Klom-Tan Man in the Nongprue sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi.
The garbage pond, owned by Nongprue Municipality, covered a significant area of over 10 rais. Upon arrival, authorities encountered a massive blaze engulfing the pond, emitting thick black smoke visible across the vicinity. The strong odor of burning waste filled the air.
Four water trucks were deployed to contain the flames and prevent further spread. Additionally, an excavator was used to clear the burning garbage, followed by water spraying to extinguish residual embers.
The concerted efforts of authorities successfully brought the fire under control within two hours. An investigation into the cause is underway, with preliminary assessments suggesting that the blaze might have been caused by a battery or power bank explosion.
