Pattaya Motorcycle Accident Claims Life of a Young Cambodian National, Road Racing Blamed

A tragic motorcycle accident occurred on Jomtien Second Road on Wednesday, claiming the life of a 23-year-old Cambodian national.

Rescue officials from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation and medical personnel from Bangkok Pattaya Hospital rushed to the scene upon receiving a report of the accident. Sadly, despite their efforts, the victim, Mr. Sothai Ren, succumbed to his injuries, which included a broken neck and a severed right leg.

Eyewitnesses to the accident stated that they saw Mr. Sothai’s Honda PCX motorbike racing against a pickup truck. Both vehicles were travelling at high speed before Mr. Sothai unfortunately lost control, careened off the road, and crashed into a palm tree located by the roadside. The front of the motorcycle was mangled in the impact. The tree was broken in half.

Pattaya police are currently trying to identify the other involved driver via CCTV footage. Mr. Sothai’s body was transferred to the Banglamung Hospital, where it awaits collection by his family for religious ceremonies.
