Pattaya Hotels See High Occupancy Ahead of Chinese New Year

Pattaya —

Land and House Plc (LH) reported high occupancy rates at its Grand Center Point hotels in both Bangkok and Pattaya ahead of the upcoming Chinese New Year festive period, according to Mr. Wit Tantivorawong, managing director for support division for LH.

Mr. Wit stated that room reservations at LH hotels reached 80-90% ahead of the Chinese New Year, which will run from February 7th-15th. He highlighted a notable rise in independent Chinese travelers, particularly in Pattaya. The festival also attracted a diverse mix of tourists, with 40-50% being Thai and the remainder comprising various nationalities, including Chinese, Malaysians, Indians, and Europeans.

The tourism sector’s recovery has positively impacted all hotel segments. Mr. Wit noted improved occupancy rates and stable room prices, with Bangkok hotels ranging from 4,000-5,000 baht per night and Pattaya hotels ranging from 5,000-6,000 baht per night.

Mr. Wit attributed the positive performance to the government’s policy of offering free and permanent visas to Chinese nationals. He hoped that the program will expand inclusion to other countries in the future as well. Additionally, the hopeful introduction of a single-entry visa for six CLMV countries is expected to further benefit tourism and hotels, Mr. Wit stated.

Mr. Wit believed that the simplified visa process will encourage tourists to visit Thailand more easily and stay longer.
