Pattaya Woman Robbed of Gold Jewelry and Motorbike Reportedly by Housemaid

Pattaya —

A Thai woman in Pattaya claimed that she was robbed by her housemaid of 15-baht-weight gold jewelry and a motorbike.

Ms. Rung, a 40-year-old woman who prefers to be addressed by her nickname, reported to The Pattaya News on February 1st that she fell victim to a robbery at her residence in Nongprue, Banglamung, Chonburi, on January 31st.

Ms. Rung alleged that her housemaid, identified only as Phon, 28, was responsible for the theft. The suspect had allegedly stolen over 600,000 baht worth of various gold jewelry and a motorbike from Ms. Rung’s home in the Nongprue neighborhood.

Ms. Rung reported the incident to the Nongprue Police Station and also decided to share information with The Pattaya News in hopes of raising awareness and finding the suspect. She mentioned that Pohn had been employed at her residence for 4-5 months before the incident.

Ms. Rung recounted the events leading up to the discovery of the missing items. While having a meal outside the house, she noticed Pohn, who was supposed to be cleaning outside, entering her bedroom. The victim found this suspicious as Pohn usually cleaned accompanied by the family dog, but on this occasion, the dog was outside. Feeling uneasy, Ms. Rung rushed back to her house to investigate but found Pohn had disappeared, leaving behind cleaning equipment. Upon further inspection, she discovered her gold jewelry and sacred amulets missing from a cabinet, along with a motorbike.

Ms. Rung said she attempted to contact Pohn but was unsuccessful. She is convinced that Pohn is responsible for the theft and offered a reward of 20,000 baht to anyone who provides information leading to the arrest of the suspect. Individuals with information can contact her at the phone number 084-6469456.
