At 09:30 PM, on January 26th, 2024, Pol. Lt. Gen. Samran Nuanma, the Deputy Commissioner General of the Royal Thai Police, and relevant officials held a press conference on the seizure of narcotics in 8 cases across Thailand.
Thai Narcotics Suppression police cracked down on a massive drug smuggling network across Thailand. The drug smugglers allegedly transported illicit substances from northern to central Thailand before distributing them to south Thailand and other provinces, according to the police.
According to a report by the police, there were a total of 25 million pills of amphetamine, 1,000 kilograms of methamphetamine, and other assets worth 15 million baht in total confiscated.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Samran reportedly stated that many of the cases resulted from expanding investigations into sources and extending the investigations to drug trafficking destinations.
Despite the drug smugglers’ changes in the covert methods of transporting narcotics, such as modifying vehicles to conceal drugs or using private courier services, Thai police were able to track down suspects successfully, remarked Pol. Lt. Gen. Samran.
Thai police continuously, and proactively worked on the detection of drug smuggling methods, setting up checkpoints and drug interception barriers, intelligence provided by the media, and thorough investigations, stated Pol. Lt. Gen. Samran.
