At 10:30 AM, on January 22nd, 2024, Tha Kham police officers publicly gave an update regarding the case of a Myanmar man’s remains found inside a freezer at a commercial building in Bang Khun Thian, Bangkok.
Upon an investigation, the Myanmar victim, publicly identified as Mr. A Say Kyi, was dissected into six parts and stashed inside a freezer.
Furthermore, the police found an electric saw and knife used to commit the horrifying crimes, according to the Thai police.
Initially, the police identified the suspects involved in the tragic murder, they were identified as Mr. Sundaravel Pragadeesh Kumar, a 23-year-old Indian owner of a recruitment company that worked with migrant workers, and Mr. Gunalan Deivasigamani, an Indian accomplice. However, the suspects have already fled to Chennai, India, according to the police.
Ms. Walailak Nakdee, a 44-year-old witness, told the police that she saw Sundaravel and Gunalan at 3:00 PM, on January 19th, going to a commercial building in Bang Khun Thian. However, at 6:00 PM, the suspects went outside and came back with a freezer at 7:00 PM. At 9:00 PM, the suspects went outside again and never came back, the witness told the police.
Tha Kham investigative police interrogated other Myanmar job seekers via an interpreter. They reportedly said that they illegally immigrated to Thailand with a total of six people to look for jobs via the Indian recruitment company owned by Sundaravel. The Myanmar job seekers paid 22,000 baht in total, according to the police.
Sundaravel first asked the victim to discuss an unrevealed matter before being found inside the freezer, one of the Myanmar job seekers told the police. The suspects are believed to have immediately fled Thailand following the murder and it was still unclear what the motive was.
Thai police pledged to issue an arrest warrant and Interpol alert as soon as final evidence was in place, and mentioned that Thailand and India had good relations and an extradition treaty so that chances of bringing back the suspects to face their allegations and charges were high.
