Lone Kuwaiti Tourist Fights Off Five Young Teen Robbers in Pattaya

Pattaya —

Pattaya police successfully apprehended five teenagers on Monday following their failed attempt to rob a Kuwaiti tourist on Soi Yensabai.

The thwarted robbery occurred at around 3:00 AM on January 22nd, along Soi Yensabai in South Pattaya. Mr. Mobaruk Ali, a 23-year-old tourist from Kuwait, had been in Pattaya for just two weeks when he encountered a group of five teenagers armed with knives.

In a brave act, Mr. Mobaruk resisted the robbery attempt. With the assistance of local residents who intervened, the group of teenagers dispersed and fled the scene. Seizing the opportunity, Mr. Mobaruk used his mobile phone to record a video while chasing after the suspects.

By chance, a police investigation team was patrolling nearby and managed to apprehend one suspect—a 14-year-old Thai teenager. Later, around 8 AM, Pattaya police managed to round up the remaining four suspects, aged between 13 and 15 years old. Due to their ages, the identities of the suspects have been withheld by the police.

One of the detained suspects was found in possession of two knives, each measuring 50 centimeters, and one long-handled sickle. He claimed to have been invited by a 17-year-old and a 16-year-old teen to rob a foreign tourist in order to obtain money for motorcycle modifications. As of the latest update, these two suspects are still at large.

In a shocking revelation, the five suspects confessed to carrying out a similar robbery against another foreigner just one hour before the incident involving Mr. Mobaruk. In that earlier incident, they allegedly received 1,400 baht. Authorities are actively investigating both incidents and are diligently searching for the remaining suspects. It is likely that the parents of the apprehended teenagers will face penalties for their children’s involvement in criminal activities.
