Sattahip —
A Thai man threatened a foreign tourist in Na Jomtien with a knife after the latter refused to buy beer from him for 200 baht.
The incident, which occurred around 01:40 AM on Friday, January 19th, was clearly captured on a surveillance camera at the mouth of Soi Na Jomtien 20, Na Jomtien sub-district, Sattahip district, Chonburi province.
According to local reports, the incident began when an unidentified male foreigner approached Ms. B (21, real name withheld) and her friends, who were drinking beer near a sidewalk in Soi Na Jomtien 20. The foreigner then inquired with Ms. B about where he could buy some beer.
In response to the foreigner, Ms. B’s friends volunteered to go buy the drinks for him. However, before they could go, an unidentified Thai man on a motorcycle arrived and suddenly chased the foreigner away. He also instructed Ms. B to inform him if the foreigner returned, stating that he intended to sell beer to the foreigner himself at 200 baht per bottle. The Thai man then left.
Shortly after, the foreigner reappeared, and Ms. B asked if he still wanted the drink. However, the Thai man returned, brandishing a knife and confronted the foreigner, chasing him away for the second time. CCTV footage captured the man’s aggressive pursuit and threats as he pointed the knife at the foreigner.
The incident raised concerns over the foreign man’s safety, prompting Ms. B to bring the matter to the media. As of press time, it is still unclear whether the foreigner has filed a police report.
