Nonthaburi—
At 10:30 AM, on January 16th, 2024, Mr. Parit Wacharasindhu, the spokesman for the Move Forward Party, publicly revealed the progress of the investigation into the case of Nonthaburi MPs physically attacking each other at a New Year party on January 13th.
According to a report by the police, Mr. Kittipat Suriyachan, the personal assistant to Mrs. Panyarat Nanthaphusitanon, Nonthaburi District 2 MP, was severely assaulted by more than 20 individuals during a New Year party on January 13th, at Wat Pho Phueak, Bang Kruai, Nonthaburi.
Currently, the police officers performed an investigation and gathered CCTV footage to hold involved individuals accountable for physical assault offenses.
The spokesman for the Move Forward Party stated to Thai media that the justice process involved the police which were currently investigating for evidence and perpetrators, and the party’s internal investigation process through the disciplinary committee.
After the party was informed of the incident, an investigation process was initiated to expedite the discovery of the facts and to take legal action against party members who commit crimes and bring justice for the victim, stated the spokesman for the Move Forward Party.
The Move Forward disciplinary committee would investigate further regarding involved individuals outside the party and the motive behind the incident, added the spokesman for the Move Forward Party.
Initially, Kittipat, the victim, previously requested an ethical investigation to the disciplinary committee on Mr. Anusorn Kaewwichian, Nonthaburi District 3 MP, in December 2023 and they both allegedly had a personal conflict as Kittipat was preparing to run in local elections in Nonthaburi District 3 under Anusorn’s area, Thai media reported.
However, the Move Forward Party pledged to hold perpetrators responsible for their crimes and punish them according to their severity, said the spokesman for the Move Forward Party.
