First our previous story:

A 25-year-old woman of Thai nationality said she was robbed of her gold necklace on Wednesday night while walking on the popular Walking Street in Pattaya.

Now for our update:

Pattaya authorities arrested Mr. Wutthikrai Poonsang, a 19-year-old Thai national, on January 11th, 2024, following his robbery of a gold necklace the previous day. Wutthikrai is suspected of stealing a one-baht-weight gold necklace worth 32,000 baht from Ms. Amarin Kokaew, a Thai national.

The arrest transpired at 9 PM at a rental room on Sukhumvit Road in Central Pattaya. Police confiscated a blue Yamaha Fino motorcycle from Wutthikrai, which he used in the commission of the crime.

The man admitted to robbing Ms. Amarin and selling her necklace to an unidentified gold shop in South Pattaya for 22,000 baht. He subsequently used the proceeds for personal expenses, online gambling, and repaying debts.

Following the arrest, Ms. Amarin visited the Pattaya Police Station to identify the suspect. She positively identified Wutthikrai as the perpetrator and commended law enforcement for their effective handling of the case. In a gesture of remorse, Wutthikrai apologized to Ms. Amarin and vowed to refrain from engaging in such criminal activities in the future.

According to CCTV footage, the suspect had been surveilling potential victims on his motorbike before choosing the target. After the robbery, he fled on Pattaya Second Road, turned right onto Pattaya Central Road, and left into Soi 14.

The suspect discarded his black jacket in an alley after the crime and proceeded to flee to a nearby shopping mall. Displaying a nonchalant demeanor, he parked his vehicle within the complex, entered the mall, and patiently waited for the situation to subside before continuing his activities as if nothing had occurred.

Wutthikrai is currently facing legal charges while in detention.
